CB Cromartie had issue with his hips

The New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie recently missed the team’s minicamp, claiming that there was fatigue in his left hip. However, reporters are guessing that he might use the wrong excuse to take a leave because it was his right hip that was fractured during the 2008 season when he was playing in New Orleans Saints jersey.

Cromartie’s agent Gary Wichard recently told reporters that his client had an issue with his hip without specifying which hip was the one that prevented Cromartie from working out. So did Jets secondary coach Dennis Thurman when he was receiving interview from ESPN.

“His hamstring was fatigued and his hip was fatigued,” Wichard said. “(Thurman) was the one who chose to give him a few reps off. It wasn’t a big deal. At the end of the day, it was not the same hip that was hurt two years ago. It’s a nonissue. It was nothing. It’s typical training fatigue. He’s fine.”

No matter which hip was bothering Cromartie, at least one thing is for sure according to his agent. That is, he is fine and will be ok for game days. Perhaps he was just taking the hip as an excuse for staying out of hard work in minicamp.

Bills RB Lynch loves Jets more than his own team

The Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch recently gave his high praise on the New York Jets in an interview about his favorite John Madden video game. As a game fan, he said that the Jets’ offseason changes would make the team a better one while chasing for the AFC East championship.

"I'm probably not supposed to say that, but I'm excited to see what the Jets are going to do," Lynch told ESPN.com. "I'm real excited. Now that's a team that I'm going to pick and play with on Madden. That's real talk. They made so many moves it's hard to just pinpoint one. I am a running back, and LT … Man, one of the best that ever did it. I'm going to be excited to see him twice a year. Santonio and [Darrelle] Revis and Cromartie over there, that's going to be interesting."

Well, later Lynch said that he was also confident in his own team, telling reporters that the Bills’ backfield would be more productive in new season. He also made a prediction on NFC North champion team Minnesota Vikings, pointing that whether the team is going to play with a quarterback wearing No.4 Brett Favre jersey, it’s still able to make it to NFC championship game appearance.

Jets released veteran TE Franks

The New York Jets have announced releasing veteran tight end Bubba Franks on Monday. Now Fransk may get the chance to wear steelers jersey.

The jets signed Franks last season and he caught six passes for 47 yards in eight games, including four starts last season. He missed eight games because of a hip injury, and was unable to participate in offseason practices and minicamp for a knee injury after re-signing with the Jets.

The move Monday leaves the Jets with Dustin Keller(notes), who had a promising rookie season, and undrafted free agents J’Nathan Bullock and Jack Simmons as the only tight ends on the roster. James Dearth(notes), who began his career as a tight end, works exclusively as the team’s long snapper.

During his nine NFL career seasons, Franks has had 262 receptions for 2,347 yards and 32 touchdowns, with eight of the nine spent with Green Bay Packers.
