The San Diego Chargers wide receiver Kassim Osgood will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. It seems that he has no plan to stay in San Diego, where he has spent all his seven seasons but as special-teamer most of the time.
Although he has developed into one of the NFL’s premier special-teams players and been named to the AFC’s Pro Bowl roster three times in the past four years, Osgood hopes to have more playing time as wide receiver. He made just five receptions for 61 yards and zero touchdowns at wide receiver from ’05 to now because of lack of playing time. In order to show he is more than just a special-teams standout, Osgood would like to put on the NFL jersey of another team who would offer him better chances.
At 6-5 and 220 pounds, Osgood is a smart player and has a good feel for the game. But he is turning 30 years old in May and he is in lack of burst and has never been known as a good route runner. So the most likely chance is that a new team would also take Osgood as a boost to special teams. It would be somewhat risky to have him play as a solid receiver.

Chargers center Hardwick not ready to play yet
The San Diego Chargers will compete with the Denver Broncos for the AFC West title this Sunday, but Chargers center Nick Hardwick still has not been ready to play for his team in his #61 Chargers jersey.
Hardwick has not been able to play a game since having ankle surgery following the season opener. The former Pro Bowler tried to return and practiced four weeks ago. But a setback last Wednesday just prevented him from practicing again. Missing practice on Thursday, he was finally ruled out for this Sunday’s game in Denver.
But several other injured players were able to practice Thursday. Tight end Antonio Gates, linebackers Shaun Phillips and Shawne Merriman all practiced. Offensive tackle Jeromey Clary did not practice yet after leaving last Sunday’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles with injured ankle, but Coach Norv Turner was optimistic that he would work out on Saturday to prepare for Sunday’s game.

Reality TV star Tequila sued Chargers LB Merriman
Three-time NFL Pro Bowl player, the San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman may face charge for domestic violence, as reality TV star Tila Tequila has filed a lawsuit against him, seeking $1.5 million in damages. Another disgusting scandal involved NFL player. Doesn't he feel ashamed while in public wearing his Chargers jersey?
Tequila alleged assault, battery, false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress. She signed a citizen’s arrest warrant accusing Merriman of battery and false imprisonment at his suburban home and caused the linebacker to be arrested by sheriff’s deputies on Sept. 6. She also alleged that Merriman had a short temper, used drugs and humiliated her because of her bisexuality.
Tequila, whose real name is Tila Ngyuen, is heroine in “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila”, a bisexual dating show featured men and women vying for Tequila’s affections. She also modeled for Playboy and other men’s magazines.
