Terry Bradshaw is a Saints fan

During his whole NFL career, Terry Bradshaw only played for one team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. But it seemed he was not happy for playing for the Steelers and was even absent from the Steelers’ celebration parade in 2006. Three years later, he did not feel anything sad for Steelers’ failure to make playoffs, but wished he would have been with the New Orleans Saints to win the Super Bowl XLIV game.

As it was already too late to add a Saints style of Terry Bradshaw jersey into the champion team’s locker room, Bradshaw said he would like to show his respect in another way, which is to hand the George Halas Trophy to the champion team’s captain, Drew Brees. Well, it was still impossible for Bradshaw to have right to do such things, he just said it, and saying is always an easy thing for a TV show host to achieve. However, many people doubted if Bradshaw meant it when he said it, as we never heard of good words from him on the Saints before they managed to reach playoffs.

As a result of the comments, Bradshaw now have more haters from the Minnesota as the comments were made before the Vikings played against the Saints for the NFC champion. Bradshaw seemed disliking the Vikings and their starting quarterback Brett Favre and had previously said something bad of Favre. Well, he himself never expects love from Vikings fans, or any team’s fans, as what he wants most is simply attention, the more people to discuss what was said by him, the better.

One more Saints player had sports hernia surgery

Following tight end Jeremy Shockey, linebacker Jonathan Vilma, defensive end Will Smith, offensive tackle Jammal Brown and quite a few other New Orleans Saints players, Pro Bowl right tackle Jon Stinchcomb was a new name of the long list of Saints to have sports hernia surgery.

Actually the news has not been confirmed by the team officials, but Stinchcomb was absent from the AllFax Specialties Classic, a charity golf tournament for Children's Hospital at Beau Chene Country Club he was scheduled to host on Friday. His teammates and coordinators all gave the same explanation for his absence as the surgery. So we can take it as the fact, but there is no need to worry about his availability to team’s offseason programs, because recovery from a typical sports hernia surgery usually takes three to four weeks, and the Saints training camp is more than two months away on July 29.

Stinchcomb can even have plenty of time to participate some team workouts in June, but it’s unlikely for him to be allowed to do that as the team would definitely want him to be in his 100 percent before wearing back his Saints jersey for any on-field work.

RB P.J. Hill is with the Saints again

In his second year of being an NFL player, running back P.J. Hill put on the New Orleans Saints jersey for the third time after the team claimed him off waivers again on Wednesday from the Washington Redskins. Hopefully, this time he will be able to come through a full season.

Becoming an undrafted rookie free agent after 2009 NFL draft, Hill signed a three-year contract with the Saints and was with them during the whole preseason and rushed for 128 yards on 26 carries with 3 touchdowns and two additional catches for nine yards. However, the Saints were already full of elite running backs like Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas, so unsurprisingly, Hill was cut when it was time for teams to restrain their roster number within 53 players. Interestingly, he was called back by the Saints the next day and became part of the practice squad.

Hill was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles last October but it was till December when he finally was on their practice squad. However, he did not stay with the Eagles for long as a third team, the Redskins, claimed him off the waivers later.

It seems that Hill has always been treated as a reserve. The former college football star had a brilliant college football career with the Wisconsin Badgers. He rushed for more than 1,000 yards and scored ten or more touchdowns each season as a college runningback. But his main role with NFL team seems only to add pressure on other running backs. According to Saints head coach Sean Payton, the team has high expectation on Lynell Hamilton, who is likely to be the third back behind Bush and Thomas, and existence of Hill will push him to work harder to get the third spot and more playing time.

Saints made more choices with undrafted rookies

The end of the 2010 NFL draft did not necessary mean the end of adding rookies. There were still quite a few brilliant players yet to be drafted when the last round came an end and teams can still make some good choices with the undrafted free agents. Defending champions New Orleans Saints did not let the chance go and selected ten more rookies among the undrafted.

There are several big names on the list, including LSU’s safety Harry Coleman and TCU long snapper Clint Gresham. The other eight to put on Saints jerseys are UNLV’s offensive linebacker Jason Beauchamp, offensive guard Brandon Carter from the Texas Tech, defensive end Junior Galette from Stillman, quarterback A.J. McKenna from Albany State, cornerback Rafael Priest from TCU, defensive tackle Jay Ross from East Carolina, nose tackle Ekom Udofia from Stanford and cornerback Marcell Young from Jacksonville State.

With a height of 6-2 and weight of 211 pounds, Coleman also used to play at linebacker during his college football career. Being a huge Saints fan himself, Coleman is glad to be able to join the Super Bowl XLIV winner and contribute his versatility to the team’s development. As for Gresham, he is the only long snapper in the draft and could offer a lot help in the improvements at the position and could have a chance to compete for starting job with veteran Jason Kyle.

Gov. Bobby Jindal signed House Bill 719 allowing contract between state and Saints owner

Gov. Bobby Jindal announced Wednesday that he signed House Bill 719, which make New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson the state’s landlord.

Jindal wants to lease space in an office building in downtown New Orleans as part of a long-term deal to keep the NFL franchise in Louisiana, and the new legislation allows the state to enter a contract and lease office space, a former shopping mall and a parking garage from the team’s owners. There is also a state plan to renovate the Louisiana Superdome, which will allow in fans wearing eagles jerseys, in order to help the Saints generate more money.

HB719 sparked heated debate during the recent legislative session, especially when the state is approving incentives for a sports franchise while cutting funding for higher education and health care.

Saints RB Thomas has to take care of his wrist

On Saints Saturday practice, RB Pierre Thomas bruised his left wrist when DT Sedrick Ellis grabbed for the ball in his hands. This caused new injury to the wrist which was already dislocated in Week 15 last season.

In order to avoid more problem, Thomas did not take part in team practice on the last day of the Saints' minicamp, but he still participated in the individual drills.


Thomas told the Times-Picayune that the wrist has improved since being hit Saturday and that once it's healed, there will probably no more problem with the wrist.

“I’m still in the process of getting it better after the surgery, so it’s going to take a while. But it’s getting stronger. Hopefully since he did hit it, he tore some of my scar tissue up and it’s going to help me out. Now I just got to have to get the swelling down. I believe as soon as I get that down I’m not going to have any problems.”

We may expect he will be 100 percent healthy by the time season begins.
